The MTD festival is much calmer in the morning and early afternoon, when the sellers are preparing their wares and stalls. It’s easy to leisurely walk the streets without feeling pressed on all sides, and getting good looks through the viewfinder is much easier too, both because of the lighter foot traffic and the ample available light. Admittedly not all of these shots are entirely successful, but hopefully they give you a feel for the eclecticism and theater of it all. I’m not entirely sure the four days delivered on the billing of ‘Old Time Malang’, but it sure was fun to see all the faces, food, and drama on the street.
